The Job Market: Is a College Degree Worth Less?
This article discusses how the world of education and college degrees is changing. For awhile most people would strive to obtain a bachelors degree in college and from there move onto finding a job and live in the real world. Lately there has been debate about taking education a step further by extending schooling and obtaining a masters degree. This is a controversial topic, especially in my field of education. In some ways going for a masters degree is a positive because it further educates you, shows you have motivation to extend your knowledge, and leads to receiving a higher pay. On the other side getting a masters degree can be seen as a negative, because schools have to pay more money to have these types of teachers so there is less opportunity to get hired with a hire degree of educations.
Should more people skip college?
I believe it is necessary to sometimes require a bachelors degree to get a job so I disagree ideas in this article. I feel like in some cases someone will not be properly prepared for the work field without the proper education. An example of a career that cannot be completed without a bachelors degree in my opinion is a doctor, I think schooling is necessary to learn all of the material needed for the work force. Although being educated means having a variety of knowledge about different things I believe in this case schooling is important.
Plan B-Skip College
This article points out that earning more money doesn’t mean they are better in the field. People with degrees earn more money but this doesn’t mean they are better suited for the job. The idea of having a degree makes an individual more appealing to the work force although what does a degree really mean? This seems to be a big problem and draws the question of will going through college and spending all that money be worth it in the end.
